Rod Rieger

1.) Rod believes the State should further explore less conventional teaching methods and tools such as; speed reading and proven memorization techniques.

Rod actually used these tools to help his oldest son while he was in the 4th grade. As a result he skipped over the 5^th grade completely and spent the last 2 years of high school at Everett Community College. He then went to the UW where he received a 4 year degree by age 20.

Using these tools it helps by making reading far less of a chore and a great deal more fun creating the desire to learn more.

In our "instant society" we have become accustomed to having everything right now. Why should we not do the same with reading?

By using these tools several things will be accomplished.

1) Make reading and memorization fun rather than a long tedious chore.

2) Create a greater desire to read

3) Get our kids into a book rather than on the street

4) Speed the education process and allow more to be covered in a school year.

4.) Follow and learn from schools that have a high graduation and "on to college" rate.
